Tamma Aravind

Tamma Aravind has blessed us with her talents, leading our church through her music for the past year!  Considering she is just out of middle school, we think she is pretty amazing!

Tamma began her musical training at the Suzuki School of Newtown and has participated in the school’s chamber ensembles since she was quite young. She has participated in other orchestra and chamber programs, including the Luzerne Music Center, Young Artist Diploma Program at Neighborhood Music School, Danbury Strings Orchestra, New Haven Youth Orchestra, Hartt Suzuki Institute and Chamber Music Central.

Up until her recent graduation, Tamma was an active member of the Bethel Middle School’s Premier Ensembles, performing as flutist in their Premier Band, Flutist and pianist in their Premier Jazz Band, violinist in their Premier Orchestra, and collaborative pianist for their Premier Choir. She was also the pit orchestra violinist for the Bethel Music Department’s musical productions, with credits including Beauty and the Beat and Chicago.

She is a member of the Greater Connecticut Youth Orchestras (GCTYO), currently as a violinist in their Principal Orchestra, and will be touring internationally with the GCTYO in July, performing in Australia at venues including the famed Sydney Opera House as well as concert halls in Sydney and Melbourne.

Tamma is also a prize winner in competitions including the Audrey Thayer Piano Competition and the Thomas Rombilus Piano Competition.  She has been selected for the CMEA Western Regionals for 3 consecutive years, in both orchestra and band, and was concert master of the orchestra in 2023.

Her performance experience spans local and international stages, including the Renee B. Fisher Piano Competition, Piano Stars International Competition, Schubert Club’s Young Musicians’ Festival, and Musical Networks’ Carlsbad Music Festival in the Czech Republic and just recently she made her Carnegie Hall debut, performing at the Piano Stars International Winners’ Recital.

Tamma was awarded the CAS-Scholar Leader Award; the highest award presented by the Connecticut Association of Schools to students from each of the middle schools in Connecticut. This award considers not only her academic performance, but also her community service and achievements outside of school during her 3 years of middle school.

Tamma was also recognized as the valedictorian-equivalent for the middle school class and gave a speech during her 2026 graduation.

Last, but not least, this Fall Tamma will be enrolled in the Manhattan School of Music’s pre-college program for classical piano.  The Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Division is widely regarded as one of the premier pre-conservatory training programs in the country, attracting exceptionally talented young musicians from the New York Metropolitan area and beyond. Acceptance into this program is a significant achievement, reflecting a level of musical accomplishment attained by only a select group of young pianists. The program is recognized nationally for its rigorous standards and conservatory-level training, providing gifted students with an exceptional foundation for advanced musical study.

The members of KSUCC are all so incredibly grateful for having had a chance to enjoy Tamma’s music first hand this past year.  We look forward to watching her continued accomplishments as she moves through her musical education and beyond.

Congratulations Tamma!
