To all who use the facilities at King Street United Church of Christ,

In light of the State of Connecticut and City of Danbury’s decision to enact a state of emergency in response to the COVID 19 virus (the coronavirus), King Street United Church of Christ’s Ministry Council voted unanimously on Monday night, March 16, to close our church building to all public use, effective immediately and until further notice.

The Mayor and city officials are strongly urging any gatherings of 10 people or more to be cancelled as we deal with this public health emergency. In addition, KSUCC needs to safeguard the health of our staff, who are responsible for sanitizing and cleaning the building after members of the public have used it.

We appreciate that losing the use of the building during this time is inconvenient. But this is a circumstance that is unprecedented in the history of our country. We have suspended all of our own church gatherings, including gathering for worship, the early learning center that uses our downstairs facility has ceased operations, and the Scouts have suspended all meetings until further notice. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. COVID 19 is a serious threat and in order for us to slow the spread we need to take precautions.

Thank you for your cooperation and stay healthy.

On June 2, 2013, we voted to become an Open & Affirming congregation. This is a designation for congregations within the United Church of Christ that have gone through a process of education and exploration in order to declare themselves to be welcoming of all God’s children.  MORE>
