Deacons Deacons
The deacons play a vital role in worship, member care, and member
growth.
Worship
-
Recruit members and friends to serve
as liturgists and ushers.

Arrange to fill the pulpit when the
pastor is away.

Serve Holy Communion.
-
Help to prepare special services.
Member Care
-
Help the pastor provide regular
visitation and Holy Communion to the homebound and sick.
-
Sustain a congregational prayer
chain.
-
Encourage participation in retreats,
Bible studies, and other spiritually enriching activities.
Member Growth
-
Greet visitors and help them make an
informed choice on becoming a member.
-
Help with “inquirers' gatherings” for
newcomers.
-
Help the Hospitality Committee host
church receptions.
Special Needs
-
Organize and administer our Broad
Shoulders program, which provides meals and assistance to members
and friends in temporary
need.
-
Oversee
the One Family Fund, which helps members who are experiencing
financial difficulty.
-
Manage
the Deacons Plate Fund, which helps people outside our church.
