This was taken in the cemetery on our church's 175th anniversary. I'm one of a few who remember celebrating the 150th! (King Street church has a fascinating history.)

About Me and King Street Church

I joined King Street Church 35 years ago after moving here from upstate New York. We lived nearby, and drove past the church and admired it every day.

Then one sunny afternoon a kindly gentleman walked up our driveway and introduced himself as the minister of that little white church around the corner. So I thought I would try it.

The next Sunday, as I parked my car on the street (can’t do that now) across from the church, a nice lady walked up and introduced herself, took my arm, and walked me right in -- and I've been here ever since.

Discovering King Street Church was one of the best things that ever happened to me. Soon, the church became my “family” and my home away from home. I found it -- then as now -- a warm, loving, and spiritual place to be.

Over all those years, I have participated in just about every activity of the church, and enjoyed every minute of it. I have --

  • served on every ministry board,
  • directed the vocal choir for 13 years,
  • played (and still play) handbells,
  • directed (and still direct) young people in a junior bell group,
  • produced and directed a few musical productions -- both adult and kids,
  • led adult fellowship dinners, gatherings, and outings

-- and just about anything else you can mention.

Working with such interesting, knowledgeable, and fun people as those in our church is a real joy. But most of all, I am grateful to this little white church for the wonderful growth I have experienced in my faith. Every day I thank the Lord for bringing me to King Street Church.
